Registering Personal Devices for TSC_IOT WiFi Access

Current students, faculty, and staff at TSC can register personal devices for WiFi access—even if those devices don’t support username and password authentication. This guide explains how to register devices such as Xbox, Roku, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, and similar equipment to connect to the TSC_IOT WiFi network. Registration must be completed using the TSC username and password of the device owner.

Important: Do not register laptops, tablets, or smartphones for the TSC_IOT network. These devices should connect to the TSC_WiFi network using your TSC credentials.

Step 1: Locate Your Device’s Wireless MAC Address

Before registering, you’ll need your device’s wireless MAC address—a unique 12-digit alphanumeric code (e.g., 00:1B:44:11:3A:B7). Here’s how to find it on common devices:

Game Consoles

  • Xbox Series X: Press the Xbox button and go to Profile & system → Settings → General → Network settings → Advanced Settings → Wireless MAC
  • PlayStation 5: From the home screen, go to Settings → System → Console Information → MAC Address (Wi-Fi)
  • Nintendo Switch 2: From the Home Menu, go to System Settings → Internet → System MAC Address

Media Players

  • Apple TV 4K (3rd generation): Go to Settings → General → Network → Wi-Fi Address
  • Roku Streaming Stick: From Home, go to Settings → Network → About → Wireless MAC

Smart TVs

  • MAC address location varies by model

Step 2: Register Your Device

  1. Open a web browser and go to iot.tsc.fl.edu
  2. Log in using your TSC username (the first part of your email address) and password.
  3. On the Manage Devices page, click the Create icon to begin registration.
  4. Fill out the form on the Create tab:
    • MAC Address: Enter your device’s wireless MAC address exactly as shown.
    • Device Name: Use a descriptive name (e.g., “Paula’s Apple TV”).
    • Device Type: Select the appropriate type from the drop-down menu.
    • Click Create Device.
  5. A confirmation message will appear: “The device was successfully created.” Your device will now be listed at the bottom of the page.

Step 3: Connect to the Network

Once registered, you can connect your device to the TSC_IOT WiFi network.
