Hover functionality is not supported on mobile touch screen devices, but you can often use a “long press” or “long click” technique to reveal a link’s identity.
But if that doesn’t work and you can’t verify a link, steer clear of the message. Below is how to use "long-press" on an Apple iPhone or Tablet.
Note: Use this with caution! With link preview enabled it is the same as clicking a link.
Below are instructions for Apple and Android
1. On your Apple device, open Apple mail on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Open a trusted email that contains a link. Hold your finger(long-press) on the link for a moment until a preview pane pops up.
3. Depending on the current setting on your phone, link preview may be enabled. Make sure that the web address is recognizable and seems to be related to the content of the email. Your device will remember this setting for all future links in email and Safari.
a. Tap Hide preview in the upper-right corner of the preview pane to close the preview thumbnail
b. Tap show preview to enable thumbnail view
On Android device
1. Open mail on your Android device.
2. Open a trusted email that contains a link. Hold your finger(long-press) on the link for a moment until a preview pane pops up.
3. Make sure that the web address is recognizable and seems to be related to the content of the email
