Are ESL/ESOL classes taught on campus?

Yes, the English Language Program at TSC currently offers English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.  These courses offer intermediate and advanced English as a second language instruction in a compressed format.

The primary purpose of these courses is to prepare TSC students for success in undergraduate level classes offered at TSC, but the English Language Program welcomes anyone who is a nonnative speaker of English, and who has achieved a basic level of English proficiency to enroll.

TSC students who are nonnative speakers of English and who have not achieved the minimum reading and writing scores on the SAT, ACT, or PERT tests are automatically enrolled in EAP classes based on their test scores.

The English Language Program offers EAP courses in reading, writing, and combined listening and speaking.  Courses are offered at two levels: intermediate and advanced.  Students entering the EAP program must have achieved at least an elementary level of English proficiency, as demonstrated by the required TOEFL score of 450 for international students or completion of an elementary ESOL program for U.S. permanent resident students.

Residents of Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties who are interested in taking elementary English as a second language classes should contact TSC's Workforce Development department to learn about the English for Speakers of Other Language program at (850) 201-8760 or workforce@tsc.fl.edu.
