What testing services does the Testing Center offer?

The Testing Center offers a variety of secure testing services to students, faculty, and the surrounding community.

Follow the policies to ensure you’re on track to ace the exam:

  • Bring a TSC photo ID or valid government-issued ID (driver license or state identification card)
  • Check our schedule for hours of operations and other scheduling specifications.  
  • Arrive at least one hour prior to closing.

Testing for Course Advisement

ACCUPLACER - Next-Generation

Students who need to take an assessment test for academic advisement, but live outside the State of Florida may make arrangements with the Testing Center to have the ACCUPLACER Next-Generation assessment sent to a local proctor. The ACCUPLACER Next-Generation consist of the following academic subjects; English, Reading and Math. Students may schedule an alternative testing location by calling (850) 201-8282.

Post-Secondary Education Readiness Test (PERT)

The Post-Secondary Education Readiness Test (PERT) is a computerized adaptive exam that is used to determine the mastery level of students in the academic areas of reading, writing and mathematics.

The PERT is offered Monday through Friday on an appointment basis. Monday through Friday examinees may make an appointment between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to begin testing.  PERT is untimed but you should allow a minimum of three hours for testing in all subjects: English, Reading and Math. 

The PERT exam is also available for remote testing opportunities, for those outside of the tri-county area. Contact the Testing Center at testingcenter@tsc.fl.edu to receive information on how to take the PERT remotely.

Program Admissions Tests


Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT)

The Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT) is administered to those who wish to become a certified Correctional or Law Enforcement Officer in the state of Florida. Access the CJBAT study guides as you prepare for your examination, then schedule your exam with the Testing Office at (850) 201-8282.   There is a $35.00 charge to take the test and must be paid at the Cashier's office prior to taking the test. 

Nursing Program Admissions Test (HESI-A2)

The HESI-A2 Admission Test is the entrance exam required for all students applying to certain Healthcare Programs at TSC. For admission consideration, the programs require a minimum score of 75 percent in each required section of the exam.

The fee for the test is $47 for TSC students and $65 for Non-TSC students. All fees must be paid to the TSC Cashier's Office.  Examinees must pick-up a payment authorization form from the Testing Center before going to the Cashier’s Office. All payments at this time will be cash only.  Students must schedule an appointment 24-48 hours in advance of the requested test date, and the HESI-A2 is only available Monday-Friday at 9 a.m. or at 1 p.m.

Accommodated Testing Services

If you are registered with the Student Accessibility Services office, you are eligible to take your advisement assessment and course exams in the Accommodated Testing Center, located in the Fine & Performing Arts Building, 2nd floor, Room 219.

All course assessments require a minimum of 48 hrs (2 business days) notice prior to test date for administration.

Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE)

In accordance with Florida Statue 1007.25 and Florida Administrative Code, Rule 6A-10.02413, Tallahassee State College offers the Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE) for completion of an Associate of Arts Degree or Associate of Science Degree. There are 80 questions total on the exam.  The passing score is 60% to meet the requirement.  

Testing for the FCLE will be offered weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (face to face) and Tuesdays and Fridays (remote) by appointment.  

  • Appointments will be scheduled for a one-hour window though examinees may take as much time as needed. 
  • In-person testing blocks for Tuesdays-Thursday will be 9 a.m.,10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.
  • Remote testing blocks will be 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Testing services begin thirty minutes after the opening of the office and students must arrive at least one hour before closing.
